Today’s Game

Posted by Brian on March 19, 2006

It’s Korea vs. Japan today at noon, Korea time. Though it looks like Korea will be missing a player:

Korea pitcher Myung Hwan Park has tested positive for a banned substance and is disqualified from the World Baseball Classic, Major League Baseball said in a release Friday.

Park tossed two shutout innings in one appearance with Korea, striking out three and walking two.

Bummer for him.

Elsewhere at the ESPN website, there is a poll asking for viewers to predict a winner among the final four: Korea, Japan, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic is the current favorite, so I can only assume that Korean netizens have yet to discover this poll, because we all know how the results would look if they had.

Is it just me, or is kind of ridiculous that Korea and Japan are meeting for the third time this tournament? I don’t like the way that some of the teams are kept apart until the very end.
